Tashi Delek Homestay
Tashi Delek Homestay Description Tashi Delek Homestay is a family-run stay in Gokarneshwor, a municipality on the northeastern edge of Kathmandu about 10 km from the city centre. The name "Tashi Delek" is a Tibetan greeting meaning good luck and prosperity, which points to the cultural background of the hosting family. The area sits between Boudhanath to the south and the Gokarna Forest Reserve to the north, putting it in one of the greener and quieter corners of the valley while staying within easy reach of Kathmandu's main sites. The Deluxe Room sleeps two guests at NPR 2,100 per night with WiFi, parking, and a geyser included. Gokarneshwor Mahadev Temple on the banks of the Bagmati River is the area's main cultural landmark, a three-tiered temple complex with an extensive collection of stone statues and shrines that escaped damage in the 2015 earthquake. Budhanilkantha Temple with its iconic reclining Vishnu statue is also nearby. Boudhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, is roughly a 10-minute drive south. For those who want forest access without leaving the valley, the Gokarna Forest Reserve offers walking trails, birdwatching, and deer sightings adjacent to the area. Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is also reachable from this side of the valley. The location suits travellers who want a calmer base than central Kathmandu with easy access to both the city's heritage sites and the valley's northern natural areas.
