Heritage Home
Heritage Home is a homestay in Dhulikhel, a hilltop town in Kavrepalanchowk district about 30 km east of Kathmandu on the Arniko Highway. Dhulikhel sits at roughly 1,550 metres and is one of the better-positioned towns in the Kathmandu Valley rim for Himalayan views: on clear mornings the panorama stretches from Langtang in the west to Numbur in the east, with Gauri Shankar and Phurbi Chyachu prominent in between. The town itself has a compact old Newar quarter with traditional brick houses, stone-paved lanes, temples, and a pace that sits well below Kathmandu's. The Deluxe Room sleeps two guests at NPR 2,500 per night with WiFi, parking, and a geyser included. Dhulikhel works well as either a day trip from Kathmandu or a one to two night base. The old town and sunrise viewpoint are walkable. Nearby Namobuddha monastery, one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the valley, is a short drive or half-day hike. The Dhulikhel to Namobuddha to Panauti circuit is a well-established day hike that covers all three towns. Kali Gandaki rafting put-in points and the road toward Sindhupalchok and the Arniko Highway to Tibet also pass through this area. Dhulikhel is 30 to 45 minutes from Kathmandu by car or public bus and sits on a direct route to Bhaktapur, making it easy to combine both in a single day. It draws travellers who want Himalayan views and a quieter overnight than Nagarkot offers, with the added texture of a functioning Newar town rather than a resort ridge.
